Voluntary Action Fund Statement of support for Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland

The Voluntary Action Fund (VAF) is greatly concerned by  the news that Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland is suspending its grant-making activities for the foreseeable future.

The Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland has been an enormously important and influential funding source for the voluntary sector for many years. The decision to suspend grant making will have a devastating impact on the voluntary sector in Scotland and will be a serious blow to the many organisations that depend on Lloyds’ funding through the standard grants scheme, capacity building grants and the Partnership Drugs Initiative.  The Foundation’s support and grant resources  has been and should continue to be crucial during the economic downturn and the projected reduction in public funding to the sector.

The Voluntary Action Fund values our long relationship with the Foundation and has the utmost respect for its probity and  values.  It is hard to over-estimate the difference to Scottish communities and local people that the Foundation has made over the years.  As a fellow independent grant making body, the Voluntary Action Fund supports the retention of the Foundation’s independent status and would welcome an early resolution to the current situation
